Safety During the Holiday Season 101
With the holiday season upon us, safety is top of mind for the majority of us as we continue to navigate our way through an ever-evolving pandemic. With travel advisories in place from the Government of Canada, we wanted to help ease the stress that this time of year brings with some helpful tips on how to remain safe this holiday season – whether at your business, an event, your home, or travelling.
1. At an Event
If you happen to be attending, or hosting, an event or a special occasion during the next few weeks, it is imperative that you follow and adhere to all provincial and federal guidelines to ensure you and your guests remain safe throughout the event and afterwards. For larger gatherings, it’s a great idea to look into rapid tests into your area to ensure each guest has a negative COVID-19 test prior to attending the event. During the event, ensure you wash your hands throughout, follow all social distancing measures and keep track of everyone coming into and leaving the event for security purposes and contact tracing. 2. At Your Business

A couple of simple things you can do to ensure your home is safe and secure during the holidays or any time are 1) ensure you lock all access points into your home, 2) change your locks, 3) install a SMART security system that links with your smartphone or mobile device, 4) if you’re going out of town, have a neighbour check on your house, and 5) remove all valuables and decorations away from windows or anywhere that a potential thief may be able to see.
4. While Travelling
We all have the travel bug as we close in on the two-year mark of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are not advising to travel during the pandemic, we understand it is necessary as some continue to conduct busines internationally and require to travel to work, or need to visit family in another part of Canada or the world. With that being said, if you are planning on travelling (once again), we would advise that you follow all guidelines implemented by your Federal and Provincial Government as well as any necessary mandates/requirements within the airport you are visiting and the airline(s) you are flying with.
