Client Feature: Commercial Drive’s Annual Christmas on The Drive

On Sunday, November 28 we had the pleasure of providing security services for Commercial Drive Business Society’s annual Christmas on the Drive event. The free event was held at Grandview Park and featured activations like free photos with Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides along Commercial Drive, a Kids Zone, which included a caricature artist, a balloon-twisting clown, a craft area, and more.

Guests of the successful event had the opportunity to take selfies with Christmas themed blow ups and watch the main event of the evening – the Christmas tree lighting, this year featuring LED FX stilted performers. The exciting annual event brought so much joy to all the attendees – as well as our team. We are so proud to work with an organization that fosters so much history and culture across a myriad of unique small businesses on The Drive.

If you missed out on spreading the holiday cheer at last Sunday’s event, we wanted to ensure you filled your cup – with holiday cheer and a hot beverage. Here are some of our favourite holiday-themed activities to do on The Drive:

1.     Get Your Holiday Baked Goods – Without the Work!

Visit the Bench Bakehouse for all your holiday treats and gifts – you can even find DIY kits to make your holiday baking dreams a reality, and impress all of your relatives. In addition to naturally leavened breads and French-inspired pastries, Bench Bakehouse makes all the holiday favourites from delicious fruitcakes, traditional German stollen, babka, cookie boxes and more! You can order online for pick-up or visit them in-store to fill yourself with holiday goodness and delicious baked goods. Visit their website here.

2.     Indulge in Some Holiday-Themed Treats

Cinnamon buns? Limited edition cinnamon buns with candy canes on them? It’s a yes from us. From December 13 to December 16 you can get your hands on Ground’s holiday cinnamon buns, featuring chocolate and candy canes. You can top it off with an eggnog latte or pretty much any beverage you can think of. Perfect to take home to share, or to indulge in-store. Visit Ground for Coffee’s website here.

3.     Get Floral for the Holidays

Studio Full Bloom is a popular florist on Commercial Drive – creating the perfect arrangement for any occasion. Fitting with the season and time of year, Studio Bloom currently has limited edition holiday arrangements – featuring festive colours and seasonal flowers and greenery to bring some holiday cheer to your home, a friend’s, or a loved one’s. Not only does Studio Full Bloom have floral arrangements and bouquets, they have plants, greenery, chocolates, honey, candles, jewelry and more – all in store. Check them, or order online, here.

4.     Start Your New Year’s Resolutions Early

Looking for a fun holiday activity to do with your friends, family or both? Or, are you just looking to get a head start on your New Year’s resolutions? Commercial Drive has a myriad of activities and fitness studios that you can try. Looking to try a new activity?
