Before you leave, ensure you lock all doors and windows. If you have a camera system, make sure it's running and recording properly. If there are any gaps in coverage at all, then someone could potentially slip past the perimeter of your property without anyone knowing about it until an incident has occurred.
If you’re planning to close for the long weekend, you should try to close your store early, if possible, as with so many people walking around, enjoying the beginning of the long weekend, thieves are also likely to be hanging out in public areas where they can see lots of potential targets for theft (like restaurants or stores).
Check Your Staffing Levels
If you do plan on keeping your store open over the long weekend, ensure you check your staffing levels in advance. Many of your employees may be taking the weekend off and you’ll want to ensure you had adequate staff to cover your business throughout the long weekend.
If you don't have enough staff, you may want to consider closing early on Friday or potentially reducing your store hours throughout the weekend.
